Ok I feel dumb. 2 #WordPress n00b ??: This is a custom site. How do I change/add my personal avatar? How do I add plugins if I DON’T want to let WP access FTP.

I've used WP for years. Never really got it to do what I want. It's easier than hacking custom HTML, though.

@gomerx all I’m trying to do is come up with a simple way to post stuff from my nook, which has a WP app, but little else of use.

Perl is excellent for that stuff. I used to have scripts to generate HTML for me.

@gomerx yeah except the About Me page formats links etc with html in the edit phase but they don’t show on the live page.

I usually end up entering my posts as straight HTML. It's the only way I can get the layout the way I want.

@gomerx this won’t be a real blog, I won’t even promote it. just the prevalance of WP apps means I can quick and dirty post quotes, images, ideas, links to reuse later. kind of like a fancy pastebin
